Dr. Shoib Myint: Well, Pelleve, there's a lot of technology out there for lasers, for skin tightening and facial rejuvenation, and I'm familiar with all of them. What I love about the Pelleve machine is that it delivers radio frequency technology. It's not laser, and it tightens the skin, gets rid of the wrinkles with no downtime, no anesthesia.

Shawn Tempesta: So you can just do this during your lunch break and head right back down.

And as you know, the collagen layer is the layer that everybody wants to tighten, that's the layer that keeps us beautiful. But what's fascinating about this technology is that it delivers the energy from the top down to the collagen, breaks it up and makes new collagen. Okay. Without having any damage to the skin. So you don't see any burns like lasers.

Shawn Tempesta: Yeah. So you don't have to wait, worry about, "Well, I can't go out tonight because I have this."

Dr. Shoib Myint: Exactly, exactly. And it takes a couple of months for that collagen to resynthesize and make new, healthy collagen, so you start seeing the results over a course of months.

Shawn Tempesta: What made you decide to get it done, and what were the results like?

Shawnie: Well, what made me decide to do it is that, you know, Botox is very popular. However, this is the same effect yet it still gives me the opportunity to show expression and it's a little more natural because it's slow reacting and then it's longer lasting. So I was really excited about the opportunity and I've had a couple of treatments, and although I still have some lines they're far less than what they were when we started.

Shawn Tempesta: Yeah. We're taking a look at it before and after right now, as a matter of fact. That's pretty incredible. And there's a lot of people that have, well, it could be laugh lines or little crow's feet, whatever it is, and you can take care of those.

Dr. Shoib Myint: Yeah. We can take care of from the forehead lines around the eyes, the jowls, the cheeks area, the jowls area, I'm even doing around neck here. Yeah. Now those are the crow's feet that are done after three treatments, you can see what it looks like, and this is no downtime so she can go straight to work right afterwards.

Dr. Shoib Myint: Yeah. There's no lasers, nothing.

Shawnie: Do I look 20 years younger?

Shawn Tempesta: Girlfriend. I don't know how old you are, but you look 20 years younger from whatever that was. Honestly, you seem very, very pleased with the results.

Shawnie: Very pleased. Yes.

Shawn Tempesta: Awesome. Doctor, you ready to take a trip?

Dr. Shoib Myint: Sure.

Shawn Tempesta: All right. We have our executive producer, Julie, who is waiting in the wings right now. Come with me. We're going to take a walk here. Now of course you see on your screen information on plastic surgery, 2012. Explain to me this event that's going on.

Dr. Shoib Myint: Well, we're doing a informational... it's a symposium for people who want to be educated about plastic surgery and cosmetic surgery. Everything you want to know. This is noninvasive cosmetic surgery, which is really the future. So it's not surgery. It's Pelleve, it's Botox, it's Restylane, it's Juvederm, it's fillers, it's lasers, fat reduction. That's kind of what we're trying to educate the people. So it's a symposium on that, and I think it'll be very informative.

Shawn Tempesta: All right. So we have our executive producer, Julie, here. What are we going to do with Julie?

Dr. Shoib Myint: Well, I think with Julie what we're going to try and do is a little bit on her forehead to tighten up and reduce some of the fine lines. She's going to need about three to four treatments, and we're going to do the first treatment today so she can see what it feels like. Okay. This is a coupling gel that we use so that the energy can go through the coupling gel into the skin, into the collagen layer. So I'm going to put a little bit of this on your forehead here. Okay? It's going to feel cold just in this area this will actually get all that energy to go down. You can put this anywhere you want to apply this energy level. We're going to do it right in the center here, just a little bit so you get an idea. So that stays on. This is a gauge that measures the temperature of the skin. On an average right now, if I measured your temperature, it'd be in the mid 30 Celsius, 35 degrees Celsius. What we're trying to do with this radio frequency is heat up the temperature to about 41 to 44. We've found in studies that if you get it to that level, the collagen starts to [crosstalk 00:05:10] right, remodel and make new collagen over a couple of months. So, that's what we're going to try to do. So if you look here, she's about 30, 29, 30, 28. Okay. Here's the machine handpiece. What I'm going to do now is I'm going to deliver a little bit of energy and you're going to see what it feels like here. Okay?

Julie: Okay.

Dr. Shoib Myint: Do you feel anything?

Julie: No.

Dr. Shoib Myint: Okay. And this is what it does.

Julie: It's warming up when you touch.

You do about three or four passes of this. And you can see how it's starting to get a little red. And that redness is a good sign. It means that it starting to-

Dr. Shoib Myint: Starting to warm up. The collagen's starting to work. Then we do about five or six passes of this, then she's done. She can finish. She can wipe this off, go to work, and go wherever she wants. No downtime. This redness will last about maybe a few hours and then she's finished.

Shawn Tempesta: That's fine. There's no problem with that. You put that you got no problem.

Dr. Shoib Myint: How does that feel? You can see a little redness here.

Julie: It's actually kind of relaxing.
