On the whole, microneedling is appropriate for all skin types and tones. Skin injuries created by microneedling are so minor there are rarely side effects afterward. Microneedling can be performed on most areas of skin, including the arms, face, neck, chest, thighs, and calves. Microneedling isn't recommended if you've taken Accutane in the last few months, plus if you have an active skin infection, herpes simplex, or open wound. In addition, you may not be a candidate for microneedling if you are nursing, pregnant, or getting radiation treatments.
