As men and women age, they often find themselves with wrinkles, lost volume, and other signs of aging. Oftentimes, many Beverly Hills, CA and Las Vegas, NV men and women will correct these signs of aging with a facelift. In some cases, however, a revision facelift is needed.

Sometimes, the outcome of a facelift may not be what the patient was expecting, and, at other times, a man or woman may want to have a follow-up facelift to keep up the results of a past facelift. Oculo Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon Dr. Shoib Myint provides his patients with revision facelifts at Myint Oculo Facial Plastic Surgery in Las Vegas, NV and Beverly Hills, CA.

What is a revision facelift?

A revision facelift is as simple as it sounds. While there are a few different reasons to receive a revision facelift, it is simply a secondary facelift. When a man or woman chooses to get a facelift at Myint Oculo Facial Plastic Surgery, they often have the intent of appearing years younger – reducing lines and wrinkles, smoothing out the skin, creating firm and taut skin, or reducing sagging skin, for example. And while many plastic surgeons provide wonderful results for their patients, the aging process does not stop. Therefore, it’s common for someone to visit our Beverly Hills, CA or Las Vegas, NV office for a second facelift after many years to maintain their youthful results. Oftentimes, we’ll see a patient come back between 5 – 15 years after their original facelift to recapture the stunning results they received earlier in life.

In other cases, a patient may visit Dr. Myint after they’ve received a facelift they are unhappy with. In these situations, a man or woman may have some scarring, asymmetric features, or other imperfections due to the use of an older technique or something else. After recovering and completely healing, these patients may feel unsatisfied with their facelift — perhaps, something appears “off,” they feel like it’s too obvious they’ve had work done, or the lift just doesn’t appear to have been effective enough. These men and women may choose to revisit the idea of a facelift to correct their appearance.

How is a revision facelift performed?

A revision facelift is performed somewhat similarly to a traditional facelift; however, there are certain things Dr. Myint will take into consideration that could make the revision facelift a bit more cumbersome. Most importantly, the patient’s skin will already be thinner from their first surgery. He or she will also have some scar tissue, and, in the event the revision is due to an error, there could be other issues. Whether at our Las Vegas, NV location or Beverly Hills, CA location, Dr. Myint will perform the facelift and correct imperfections or remove scar tissue that keeps him from providing stunning results. Dr. Myint does his best to work with each of his patients to ensure he is providing them what they want and that they have realistic expectations of the outcome. This can be particularly important for a man or woman who is visiting his office because they received a facelift elsewhere they are unhappy with – his expertise, artful skill, and listening ear will help his patients feel comfortable, understood, and safe in his care.
